Sam plays every style of music you can think of from Jazz reggae to Country blues! From touring the world playing Jazz with Milt Abel, Chris Cheek and Gerald Trottman, to playing country in Nashville with Ashley Ray. Sam combines his playful personality with his serious study of music. The Circus will keep you on your toes!
Sam Platt born in Carthage Missouri, dad and his brothers owned Flex O Lators Inc that produced innerds of bedding, car seats, couches, laz e boys, etc, he played country guitar. Mom was a touring Opera singer, they raised Quarter Horses on their farm. All State Band 1986, toured Europe playing tympani with Collegiate Wind Ensemble, scholarship to UMKC, played with Milt Abel, Rich Hill, 86-88,then graduated from Berklee in Boston 1991, Masters from UMKC in Percussion 1994, Played 2 years at Majestic Steakhouse, taught at KC Drumworks, taught at Paseo Academy, went to Laguna Beach in 1995 taught with Taylor Hawkins at Music House,He played jazz around LA, bought Redhouse Recording moved back to Lenexa, then Lawrence, KS. toured Europe 3 summers with Polish American Jazz Foundation. taught in Warsaw and Krakow. Recorded and played drums on tons of albums, William S. Burroughs, commercials, etc in Lawrence. Played with Ricky Dean Sinatra, Inferno Swing Club, Ashley Ray, Worked at MK12 when it started late 1999 2000. Head engineer at Premier Studios in 2003, met and started playing with Anthony Ladesich, Pendergast, then Scott Easterday Marco Rich in Expassionates. Hadacol – Rich Fred Wickham, Greg Wickham, Naughty Pines, now Douglas Co. Quintet with Alan Murphy, Jr Bernard (Fear and Whiskey) Doug Byers, Micheal Lemon from Hollar. Recorded all the audio in the Liberty Memorial Museum over 10,000 files for displays. wrote music for John Deere, Cuties Oranges, Dish Network, played on jingles with Marco for Indigo Wild and Big Fur documentary. Recorded Audio for Budweiser, Southwest Airlines, Grundfos, Metro bus gps, Cessna, Cobalt Boats, the Speed Channel, Disney, and George Brett.
